The onset of
spring brings about S.
alata flower buds sprouting out in masses in an open field in Mississippi.
Pitcher leaves of the previous season are all but died out. A
field fire may have swept the area during the winter season, creating an
ideal habitat for the pitcher plants by removing all the tall grasses in
the field. In a month or so, the field will be covered with pale-yellow
blossoms of the nodding flowers. In early March, near
Ocean Springs, Mississippi. |
