Sarracenia oreophila

In this isolated locale in
northern Alabama, S. oreophila was maintaining a rather modest colony of
no more than 100 plants, crowded around a mountain spring, seemingly
rather over-grown by surrounding shrubbery. It was early May, and I
counted only a few scapes of flower buds needing another few weeks for
full blossom. This appears to be another species in which pollinators
are bothered by functional traps.
