April is the flowering
season for many pitcher plant species. In many southeastern
habitats where many species grow together, hybridization often
results. In the early spring when many pitcher plants flower, I
found these colorful blossoms. There were no traces of pitcher
leaves in the ground to offer any hint of its parental origin.
