A tentacle of Drosera intermedia. Note the
sessile glands along the lower surface of the tentacle. The tip of the tentacle
supports multi-cellular
glands which secret glue-like mucilage for prey capture.
Note the region at the end of the tentacle just
before the glands. This is where the sensitive receptor cells can
be found, enabling the
tentacle to respond to a faintest of physical stimulation.
