Lying in wait hidden
among the innocent leaves of green grasses in this Florida grassland are
the dew-covered leaves of the threadleaf sundews,
D. filiformis. The
thread-like leaf of this sundew grows to a height of 30cm or more. There
are two recognized varieties of this species:
D. filiformis v. filiformis,
with red-tinted glands (red form), and D. filiformis v. tracyi,
which contains no red pigmentation (green form).
