Loch Moy Farm Installs LightFoot Footing in Every Arena!!
Loch Moy's arenas got a major upgrade this month with the addition of LightFoot Arena Footing in every single ring. It took two full size tractor trailers and countless hours of work, but together with the Loch Moy crew, the F.I.C.S. crew, and the crew from Brian Jenkins' Equine Dirt Works, we got almost 90,000 pounds of LightFoot mixed into Loch Moy's 4+ acres (185,000 square feet) of arenas!!
These are a couple of before pictures. The stone-sand blend would loosen up after harrowing as shown to the left, but after some traffic it would pack quite hard, get chewed up and become much less forgiving (below).
The Solution: LightFoot™
The unloading begins....
2 Truckloads later, the 60+ bales are places throughout the 4 arenas.
Then we spread & mix & drag....
Getting there.... All the LightFoot™ is evenly spread but the key is getting it in the footing so it can work its magic!
Now for the after shots....As you'll see, the material is so well mixed in that all the individual pieces and bright colors are barely noticeable. But, to all the riders, and especially to all the horses, the difference is remarkable. Because of the addition of LightFoot™, the footing is now soft and fluffy while still being stable and supportive. The rings still drain as well as they did before, but now the dust is cut way down and the need to drag is minimized too!
